This group is a mix of ladies from the Church and the Community whose passion is making quilts, stitched with love to express Christ’s love for each person who receives a quilt. The quilts are made for organisations and charities; we also make comfort quilts for individuals, when they have experienced bereavement.
In 2016 approx. 40 lap quilts were gifted to vulnerable children on the Central Coast working in conjunction with Inner Wheel Gosford North and their contact at the Family Support Agency. Over 200 library bags were also made and included in Christmas gift boxes that were sent to the Pacific region. The boxes were filled by Church members and distributed through Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child.
So far this year we have made 13 table runners which were donated to Henry Kendall High School for their Special Ed. Coffee Shop, 220 library bags for Samaritan’s Purse ‘Operation Christmas Child – Shoe Boxes’, 1 large bed quilt for the Murwillumbah Flood Appeal and seven 50”x 50” lap quilts for vulnerable children on the Central Coast, through the Family Support Agency.
We continue to support the Aussie Hero Quilts project and this year we’ve mailed 4 quilts and 4 laundry bags to deployed Servicewomen and Servicemen where they are received with a great deal of excitement and absolutely treasured by the recipients, who are unknown to us personally. Read all about this wonderful organisation headed up by Jan-Maree Ball, OAM, at the “Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry Bags” website.
Wholly Quilts takes place on the 2nd & 4th Friday each month.
