This group is a mix of ladies from the Church and the Community whose passion is making quilts, stitched with love to express Christ’s love for each person who receives a quilt. The quilts are made for organisations and charities; we also make comfort quilts for individuals, when they have experienced bereavement.
Wholly Quilts have been very productive during 2017, gifting several quilts as comfort quilts to members of the Church, a quilt each for 2 staff members as 'we're sorry to see you go' gifts and a quilt for a long time member of the Church who moved away to be closer to family. We also made marble bags and library bags for Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes and we gifted 16 children's quilts to the vulnerable and traumatised children who were rescued through the Dept. of Family and Community Services.
We are grateful to members of the Church who toiled away making jams to sell and to those who purchased and consumed the jams! Wholly Quilts received a donation of almost $300, with which we were able to purchase much needed children's fabrics, backings and blender fabrics to enable our work to continue.
This year instead of "Secret Santa" at our group's Christmas Party, we opted to put $10 each into the Christmas Bowl. Our donation enabled Ashley, from Avanah Beauty at West Gosford, to purchase items for some beautiful gift baskets, containing personal hygiene products and some treats, which were made as gifts for women at the Women's Refuge.
We continue to support the Aussie Hero Quilts project, sending quilts & laundry bags to deployed Servicewomen and Servicemen where they are received with a great deal of excitement and absolutely treasured by the recipients, who are unknown to us personally.
